More than 20-years of trial experience involving many complex and sophisticated cases, including, (a) 4-month long corporate opportunity trial involving condo-conversions resulting in a $9.8 million dollar award; (b) leading case on minor’s rights in film industry as to forced nudity on camera resulting in multi-million dollar settlement fund for 6 families; (c) shareholder derivative suit in clothing manufacturing business resulting in $1.2 million settlement; (d) $6.5 million punitive damage judgment in Russian film distribution case; (e) 40-day fraud/legal malpractice trial resulting in punitive damage judgment against real estate attorney; (f) employment/executive compensation litigation against a major insurer resulting in a multi-million dollar settlement package; and (g) numerous personal injury trial awards in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
4. Representative Clients: (a) Real Estate: Legal counsel for real estate developers/management companies/contractors; active in large REO and performing/non-performing bulk package transactions for banks, hedge-funds and investors. (b) Entertainment: Counsel in entertainment industry for various film companies, directors, writers and multi-media companies. Music industry litigation involving Guns N’ Roses, Motown Records and Rap labels; music video production agreements. Film production agreements for above the line and below the line participants, as well as Directors, Writers and Multi-Media companies. (c) Manufacturing: Products liability counsel for Fiat/Ferrari Motors, Pfizer Chemicals. Defense counsel in real estate cases for Home Insurance, Lloyds of London. (d) Professional Malpractice: In-house counsel for formerly largest real estate brokerage in the San Fernando Valley handling escrows, sale documentation and broker/salesperson malpractice claims. Defense counsel on professional malpractice claims for Prudential Insurance Company. (e) Travel Industry: Counsel for Air Ostravia (#2 airline in Czechoslovakia), Tailwind (Dallas). Community Activities: Founding member of non-profit Bet Tzedek Legal Services, which has been active for more than 20-years in helping the elderly and poor obtain vindication for their legal rights in housing, social services, probate and elder abuse cases. Former Vice President of the Melrose Merchants Association, representing the interests of one of the trendiest streets in Los Angeles. Recently, legal counsel and director for Abbott Kinney District Association, a merchants group promoting Abbott Kinney Boulevard in Venice, California, a center for avant garde clothing boutiques, antiques and trendy eateries. Member of the Board and donor for initial attempt to form The Hollywood Museum, formerly located on Hollywood Boulevard.
Volunteer news announcer for radio station KPFK, part of listener-supported Pacifica Radio, for a period of approximately 2-years; edited Reuters, Associated Press, and L.A. Times’ copy and then announced it over the air with my co-announcer, Sanford Fidel, Ph.D. During that period, KPFK received an award from the Southern California Broadcasters Association for having the best evening radio news program in Southern California.
